Traditional equatorial mounts often require heavy counterweights, making it challenging to balance the right ascension (RA) and declination (DEC) axes. They are cumbersome to transport and store, causing significant inconvenience for amateur astrophotographers during outdoor sessions. Additionally, traditional strain wave gear mounts may face challenges in balancing portability, payload capacity, and long-term stability.

To address these challenges, ZWO developed the ASI Mount series, eliminating the need for counterweights in many imaging setups. Building upon the success of the AM3, the new AM3N introduces refined structural improvements, enhanced cable management, and optimized performance for a more efficient astrophotography experience.

The AM3N weighs only 4.1 kg and supports payloads ranging from 8 kg to 13 kg. While portability remains a core advantage, ZWO continues to prioritize stability and precision. The optimized internal structure incorporates harmonic drive reducers and timing belts, delivering smooth motion control with an impressive 300:1 reduction ratio. The mount supports both equatorial and alt-azimuth modes and can be controlled through Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, or mobile applications.

Compact Design with Enhanced Stability
The AM3N combines portability with reliable performance through its optimized internal structure, featuring harmonic drive reducers and synchronous belts for smooth motion control and a precise 300:1 reduction ratio.
Compared with the previous AM3, the AM3N introduces an upgraded dovetail saddle with integrated Type-C and 12V DC power ports, providing cleaner cable management and a more efficient astrophotography setup.

Custom Strain Wave Gears for Precision Tracking
Designed specifically for astrophotography, the custom strain wave gear system delivers high torque, smooth operation, and extremely low periodic error.
Each AM3N is individually tested and supplied with a dedicated PE curve report. The periodic error is consistently maintained within ±15 arcseconds, ensuring reliable tracking performance for long-exposure imaging.

Lightweight Design with 8 kg to 13 kg Payload Capacity
Weighing only 4.1 kg, the AM3N provides an excellent balance between portability and load capacity.

Full 0°–90° Altitude Adjustment
The AM3N supports a wide 0°–90° altitude adjustment range, allowing operation across different geographic locations.
Gear 1: Adjust the handle to set angles between 0° and 60°.
Gear 2: Loosen the hex screws to adjust the clamp for angles between 30° and 90°.

Wireless Control and Smart Mobile Operation
Built-in Wi-Fi and Bluetooth allow direct control through mobile devices without requiring complex wiring.
Through the ASI Mount App, users can access GOTO, Tonight’s Target, Live Preview, and on-screen joystick control for a streamlined observing and imaging experience. The AM3N is also compatible with ASCOM, INDI, and other control platforms.

Seamless ASIAIR Integration
Fully integrated with the ZWO ecosystem, the AM3N works seamlessly with ASIAIR for wireless control of the mount, camera, guiding, and imaging workflow.
